Finally! Help for the Struggling Senior at the Keyboard!

For the person who needs basic, start-from-the-beginning instruction in this machine we may now be using only for email, this user-friendly, attractive manual is just the ticket. Explanations are clear, illustrations are colorful and appropriate, and the personal quotes from fellow seniors add to the usefulness and charm of the book. Pages are large and lie open easily beside you as you read and practice. A wonderful gift for someone "older," or someone just too embarrassed to admit the technical world is passing us by (at any age!) I'm ordering several for friends....

You Can Teach an Old Dog New Tricks

This book is a gem! It is very clearly organized and illustrated. The straight-forward, logical writing makes it a quick reference work for specific questions. Each user can explore an area of interest without starting a square one. I, for example, used it to expand my understanding of digital photography. As someone who is impatient with long-winded explanations, this is my kind of book. I don't want to know how to build a wristwatch; I just want to know what time it is!

Exceeds Expectations!

First, full disclosure. My picture is in this book and I know, personally, one of the authors though I had nothing to do with the production of the book other than contributing a couple of paragraphs (the sidebar by my picture). I don't think that this affects my review, however, and I have no financial interest in the book.
Since I spent almost 40 years in programming and software testing, I have seen a lot of manuals and books intended for newer computer users.
This book, regardless of the title, is not just for seniors as it contains a lot of well-written tips and insider knowledge. The text, though clear and concise, does not "dumb down" the information it presents.
Visuals in the book are particularly well-done and illustrative of the points being conveyed by the text. The topical organization of the book is both useful and informative.
Ultimately,I would recommend this book for any newer or senior computer user.
