Does NOT meet current guidelines

This book does NOT meet the 2009 National EMS Education Standards or the 2010 American Heart Association guidelines. For example, this book references the "Initial Assessment". This terminology is from the old standards. The assessment chapter does not make any reference to the CAB approach to assessment for unresponsive patients. The book incorrectly states atropine is still indicated for asystole. The cardiology chapter makes no reference to the new AHA guidelines for oxygen administration.

Explanations unnecessarily confusing.

This will be my fourth recert for my Paramedic & I have worked as a PA in an ER for the last 4 years. Anything beyond the most basic concepts are poorly explained. As a simple list of key words, this book is fine, but for any explanations go else ware. Also the online test bank does not seem to comply with 2010 AHA/ACLS guidelines.

Excellent adjunct material for the textbook

I've been using this book to supplement the required text for my paramedic class (Nancy Caroline's Emergency Care in the Streets 6th ed. Boring, scatter-brained book by the way) and it has been very helpful so far. It correlates to the course material and provides an excellent summary for each chapter in the textbook, as well as additional insight into each topic that wasn't covered in either. I especially like the fact that this book is written in a concise and readable outline form. The only downside is that this "note" style of writing can be somewhat confusing in some parts of the book. I am going to take the NREMT-Paramedic in three months and I will continue to use this book to study.
