Judith Barberio PhD, RN, APN, C, ANP, GNP, FNP, SNC is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Rutgers University School of Nursing. In addition to being the author of the annual Nurse's Pocket Drug Guide, she has conducted research on chronic illness, primary health care in urban settings, pharmacology and pain control, and health policy. She is also President of the Rutgers University School of Nursing Alumni Association.

Great little guide

Have purchased many different books/apps to use for quick reference for clinicals as a 2nd yr nursing student. This is by far the best for what I need. The book is so compact to fit nicely in scrubs, while containing the important nursing implications for each drug.
Just wish I would have bought this book when I first started in the nursing program. I would highly recommend this!!!!

A Must Have for All Nursing Students

I bought this book specifically for clinicals because it was easier to haul around than my larger guide. I can quickly look up any drug I have given in the past four months and it has really allowed me to get a quicker handle on my drugs than before I used the guide. I have never given a drug that is not in this book, including your "dated" and less used drugs like Tigan.
This book is also invaluable for charting and learning your abbreviations - It also explains the Latin origin of the word, which allows me to better memorize and understand it as I read through nurses' and doctors' notes. My only complaint is that the book wears so fast, but I constantly use it or loan it. I hope my school orders them in bulk for a cheaper price at the bookstore for future students, but it is well worth the $9.

I needed a pocket book for work that would give me as much info as a larger book. This is excellent & easy to carry. The last drug book I bought was from 2007, so I needed something up-to-date!
