What were they thinking.

Having used the 5 steps to a 5 for APUSH, I thought that these questions would be a good review for students. What I found is that the demand of APGOPO is specifics, while this review book has multiple questions that are vague and useless. Other AP tests are adept at maintaining a consistent language/terminology, which seemed to have been ignored in order to hit the standard 500 questions. I hope that other APGOPO teachers read this and challenge this, or agree with my view of it.

Not very good

I have taught AP US Gov and AP US History for years.
I was super excited to find this book last spring before the 2012 exam.
I was very disappointed. The questions are NOT similar to the AP curriculum, especially the sections on interest groups, PACs, linkages between institutions,
There is content in questions that is NOT on the AP exam for this subject.
Only about 150-175 questions are worthwhile. I do not recommend the book for students to use. It will only confuse and frustrate them. I have had students come to me upset that they don't know significant portions of the book.
I use it as a teacher for review questions but only the ones that I choose.

I liked that there were 500 questions, but this book will do very little to help students in AP Government. It seems like the writers did very little research. They just kind of threw 500 questions about anything government related, and made sure they had 5 choices. The questions are poorly constructed and do not represent what students are expected to know for the exam. This is a horrible book to study by.
As a teacher of AP Government, I would urge all of my students never to get this book.
