About the Author
Stan Gibilisco has authored or co-authored more than 50 nonfiction books in the fields of electronics, general science, mathematics, and computing. One of his books, the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Personal Computing (McGraw-Hill, 1995), was named as a "Best Reference of 1996" by the ALA. Stan is considered the "father" of the DeMYSTiFieD series, with more than 14 titles published, including Physics DeMYSTiFieD, Optics DeMYSTiFieD, and Trigonometry DeMYSTiFieD.

Wow - it's bad

I picked this book up at the library, as a supplement to the class I'm taking. It doesn't help at all. Especially confusing to me - as I'm wresting with the new notation and jargon w/ Statistics, they - at least in the probability chapter - non-standard notation, and the notation used in the text doesn't match the notation used in the figures. I went to it for clarification, but only got more confused.
I haven't looked elsewhere for other options, but there MUST be better resources than this.

Wrong First Choice

It's been 35 years since I took a statistics class and I needed a quick refresher or perhaps a redo. I stopped at the college bookstore to get a quick hit for a 9 hour flight. Out of the three that they had this one seemed to have all the things I was looking for (quick, easy, and needed a complete redo of knowledge). Except for the pure basics, this book left out all the minimal details needed to intuitively understand the topics. By the end of my flight I had about 6 pages of questions that I had to google for answers once on dry land. I am very disappointed that I purchased this book. I've since gone through the khanacademy.org Statistics course and I am very pleased. Hope this helps...
